There Is No Age Limit For Idiocy
I rarely write about these things and when I do I tend to be more mean than anything else but I’ll try my best not to tick too many people off because apparently I’m supposed to make people happy instead of calling them out on their stupidity. If you are over the age of twenty then there is no reason why you should be acting like a twelve year old. There’s a reason why you morons are allowed to vote. It’s because you’re supposed to be able to make rational and informed decisions and not act as if your brain has been suffered from rot from watching too much reality television.
Oops. Maybe I went a little overboard there.
My fury is centered towards those who wish they were younger. I’m not talking about younger looking because even people barely out of their teens begin to look aged and sadly in this world, beauty is everything (or so I’ve been told by every pretty girl I’ve ever tried to talk to seconds before being snubbed). I’m also not talking about the retro nostalgia wave that society has been riding recently (remakes of old TV shows/movies, old hockey uniforms, etc.). I can understand this because it is natural for us to look at our childhood memories and wish we could re-live and re-experience some of our most cherished moments that were important to us when we were young and didn’t have a care in the world. Children of the 80s had Mr. T, Transformers, and Knight Rider, among other things, riding high in pop culture for the period and seeing even something as awful as Knight Rider back on TV today makes 20 somethings feel all warm inside (although not so much since it has since been cancelled).
What I’m talking about is people who look at what kids are enjoying today and going “wow, that looks like fun”. Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers are kids shows. People my age should not be obsessed with these things. Some of these people are college graduates including lawyers and doctors. My issue isn’t restricted to TV shows but to other things that children are supposed to be doing. It’s ok if a child decided to eat so much candy you might as well do a eulogy for their pancreas but when a 24 year old does it, they need help. Rushing home to play video games night after night should be a kids’ activity. Grown adults shouldn’t be playing video games all the time and neglecting their responsibilities. Even if more games are gear towards young adults more than ever, games won’t make matter much we don’t take care of ourselves and the video game consoles get taken away by repo men.
I’ll make this short and sweet because I generally prefer ranting about stuff that isn’t about a ridiculous subject. Our generation is becoming too spoiled and spoon-fed to survive major issues. It’s as if we are aspiring to become even stupider than those idiots on reality television. We are better than this but until adult women realize becoming obsessed with the cheap flip-flops sold at a store geared for tweens and adult men stop obsessing over action figures, we are just wasting away because we still expect the older generations to make decisions for us instead of making smart decisions for ourselves.
I bet somewhere, Mr. T is pitying the whole lot of us.
P.S. I realize that me complaining about video games might seem a bit hypocritical since I write video game reviews here and plan on doing other video game related things on this site but I’m referring to those who spend hours upon hours playing games. Playing an hour a day isn’t a bad thing but spending more time playing than not playing is seriously very wrong.
Entertainment News
I’ve heard of sports teams and building for sale for the low price of a dollar but never a television station. Apparently, CTV may or may not have sold three small television stations to Shaw for $1 each. The larger picture is that it is all a politics game about profitability and CTV’s claim that the network is losing money because cable and satellite companies do not have to pay CTV or any free broadcast network any carriage fees. I think I want to go watch my copy of UHF again.
Health News
Then again, maybe it’s a good thing CTV is going down the crapper. Despite the fact that the number of confirmed cases of H1N1 virus are at 85, CTV felt the need to show a map that highlights the entire area of a province regardless of how many people were have actually contacted the virus. This means that over half the surface area of the country is highlighted in the map. Quebec has the largest surface area of the province but only two of the reported cases. The map makes it look like the entire province is infected. Then again, I guess panic sells so good for CTV for being so resourceful.
