Not an April’s Fool Post
Again, more often than not, there has been very little activity on the site. I would love to make some massive promises how I will begin work on the site again and put up more content than ever but I can’t promise that I’ll be able to follow through. Other commitments (like my job) make it hard at times to work on the site. So while I’m not going to say that I promise that the site will not go quiet again (it very well might), I will say that I’ll do my best to post some content on a more frequent basis than what has unfortunately become the status quo.
The plan moving forward is to have at least three podcasts up a week:
- Tuesdays will be about film. The Weekly Movie Podcast has always been a short-and-sweet podcast. When I finally get enough time, I’ll start publishing the Movie Newsletter again (most likely on Fridays).
- Thursdays will be about running. I had some big plans for the Weekly Running Podcast but they sort of fell flat. A couple of interviews I had scheduled for the podcast last year and this past winter didn’t happen for various reasons. I’ll be going back to basics with the podcast and just talk about upcoming races, various running publications, and deals on running accessories. I’ll be reworking the running page on the site with the biggest change begin the removal of the running calendar. Considering that courir.org and iskio.ca do a much better job than I could ever hope to do, there’s no point in trying and I’ll just redirect people to those sites. There are no plans to do a running newsletter (mostly because I don’t think I could do a third newsletter when I barely have time to do two).
- The weekend will be about video games. The most popular podcast on the site—The Weekly Video Game Podcast—will be published on Sunday. It will retain the same format as before (sales, upcoming games, and commentary). I had an idea of doing interviews with developers but there’s too many hoops to jump through and I refuse to modify how I do things just so I can score an interview (this website does not contain advertising and there’s no way I’m going to use this place to act as a shill for a company). The Video Game Newsletter will most likely be published on Saturdays (when I finally have time to work on it again).
I have some other ideas that I’m tossing around in my head. If the site goes dormant for months again, I apologize but it’s not because I treat this site as a whim and decide to write on this space because I remember that I have the domain and I think it’s neat. I love to write about the various subjects I post about but finding time to do it is nearly impossible. Actually, the worst thing is editing (something I didn’t really do for this post) and there have been a couple of full newsletters written but I wasn’t able to edit them properly. It got to the point where the news stories I was working on were dated and it seemed irrelevant to publish them.
The podcasts will resume this week (starting tomorrow). The newsletters should start again by the middle of the month. Daily posts will also resume tomorrow.
