BREAKING NEWS PODCAST: Wii 2 Announcement – Reaction and Speculation
BREAKING NEWS PODCAST – Wii 2 Announcement – Reaction and Speculation
<20 mins (18.2 MB)> ^ Right click to save ^
Nintendo has finally made it official and announced the successor to the Wii; something that the industry analysts have been predicting since 2008. Chris Karpyszyn and I discuss what this means for Nintendo and whether or not they can stop losing market share to the other companies. We also talk about the Playstation Network outage that doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.
Chris and I will be back again on Thursday to discuss this further as more news leaks as well as other items in the world of gaming including Portal 2 and the first month of the Nintendo 3DS. The Weekly Movie Podcast will also be released sometime tomorrow.
These breaking news podcasts are going to be a new feature of the site when major news goes down in the subject areas that are covered in this site (for example, Montreal and Canadian news, film, and gaming). If you have any questions or comments about the podcast, send them to jgore@madnessbrewing.com. I know there was an issue with my audio side as it sounds more like AM quality than FM quality but I think it’s because I deleted my master by mistake and had to take the audio from the Skype conversation between me and Chris instead.

- Jamie Gore and Steve Wood (and featuring Chris Karpyszyn)
- Due to too many issues, this podcast is actually two weeks of recorded material rolled into one
- I think we may have talked more about Duke Nukem: Forever than Halo: Reach
- At least video game sales are beginning to pick up (Metroid’s sales are surprisingly high)

- Not much to talk about so I talk about why there was nothing happening on the site last week
- At least this week looks to be better as this podcast is out on time (for a change).
- Kane & Lynch 2 didn’t do so well. Only one person that I know of is surprised.
- I’m not expecting big things for Metroid: Other M either.

- Apparently, people like football games.
- I really don’t think go-karting will sell a single copy of Gran Turismo 5
- Likewise, I don’t think the Corvette license would sell any extra copies of Mario Kart
- I apologize for the audio issues. I’ve been having problems with my recording software. The podcast is still plenty listenable but instead of sort-of FM quality this week, the podcast is really-like AM quality.

- A quarter of this podcast is me hating on Ubisoft…this is either because it really is a slow news week for games or I loathe the recent business direction of the company (probably a little of both)
- Hopefully there will be some interesting stuff to talk about when Gamescom hits this week.
- When I read that Bioshock Infinite was in the works, I was so underwhelmed that I felt that I needed to take a nap.

- Finally a podcast that’s out on time
- Unfortunately there’s nothing much to talk about other than TORCHLIGHT 2!!!
- I’m not saying people shouldn’t buy the Xbox Live version of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light but people just shouldn’t spend their money supporting half-finished software…I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t buy the game. Buy something better instead.
