Weekly Movie Post – November 18, 2009

Weekly Movie Podcast – Nov. 17, 2009 8 mins (3.6 MB)

  • Jamie Gore and Chris Karpyszyn
  • 2012 ran away with it…now it should just run away
  • One crappy big budget movie last week…another one this week…there’s a reason why this podcast is only eight minutes long
  • All box office info come from http://www.the-numbers.com
  • Click more to see the top 5 movies from this past weekend as well as a listing of the movies coming out this week both in theatres and on DVD.

Top 5 films for the weekend ending November 15, 2009

$ Wknd.

$ per Theatre

$ Overall

1 2012 Sony Pictures $65.2m $19.2k $65.2m new
2 Disney’s A Christmas Carol Buena Vista $22.3m $6.1k $63.2m 2
3 Precious Lionsgate $5.9m $33.8k $8.7m 2
4 The Men Who Stare at Goats Overture Films $5.9m $2.4k $23.0m 2
5 Michael Jackson’s This Is It Sony Pictures $5.1m $1.7k $67.1m 3

* On the podcast we had Precious and The Men Who Star at Goats switched around. The reason for this is that the numbers in this chart are the final numbers while when we recorded the podcast, we only had weekend estimates. The difference between the two movies was less than $13 thousand.

* Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to put links to the trailers of the movies on Youtube. I might do that later this weekend and repost but don’t look for it. It takes way more time than you think (way too many fake trailers offering spam to filter through). If there’s time, I’ll try to do it.
