Not much to talk about when it comes to running other than the upcoming season. There are a bunch of “Resolution Runs” put on by the Running Room as well as some other New Year’s-themed races in and around the area. I also say some things about winter training that might be helpful to some.
La Valse des coureurs is the only Laval race on the Circuit Endurance’s schedule. It’s not the prettiest course on the calendar nor is it the most prestigious. However, it is still really well done. It does feel a bit low key but you still get the competitive nature and support that you would expect from a race on Montreal’s major running circuit. There are some problems with the course but it is still fun to run through.
Another longer than usual running podcast. There’s a major race in my neck of the woods this weekend. The Quebec City Marathon is this Sunday and I go over my experience with the race from last year. I also get into a preview of La Valse des Coureurs; a race that I’m planning on running on Sunday. It’ll be my first race since May. Additionally on the podcast, I talk about some of the great running gear sales that are taking place this weekend. There are some really great deals out there. Download the podcast by clicking the link up top and continue reading the rest of the post to check out the entire race schedule for the Quebec-Toronto corridor as well as upstate New York and Vermont.
Unfortunately, the podcast did not go up on time again. I had to reformat my laptop and it took a bit of time to get it back up and running. I recorded the podcast last night but was too tired to finish editing it so I had the plan to work on it early this morning. When I started working on it, the editor crashed and I thought I had lost all the work. Luckily, nothing was lost and I was able to finish editing it. I did notice some sound issues which I will hopefully have fixed in time for tomorrow’s Movie Podcast.
The website returns with a Weekly Running Podcast. Not much to talk about as there’s only five races this weekend between within reasonable driving distance of Montreal. The major one this weekend is Circuit Endurance’s race in Ste. Anne de Bellevue. It’s one of my races to run and makes for a great day in a beautiful part of Montreal. I highly suggest you try this race out this weekend (as long as it doesn’t rain). Also on the podcast are some of my plans for the future of the podcast as well as a few details about some specials some retailers who sell running gear are offering.
The website awakens from it’s slumber and starting things off from hibernation is the Weekly Running Podcast. I offer up details about registration for the Ottawa Marathon and the Circuit Endurance as well as a few races coming up over the next two weeks (because there are a few people who think running in arctic temperatures is a grand idea).
Sorry for the late update but this will be the first of three podcasts being uploaded onto the site tonight. There is plenty of races available to those in and around the Montreal region this weekend. Hopefully Mother Nature plays nice as it’s looking to be very hot and there’s also a forecast of thundershowers throughout the Montreal-Ottawa corridor for Sunday. The big race of the weekend is the 20km race in Ste. Anne de Bellevue on Sunday that’s part of the Endurance Greater Montreal Running Circuit. This is the racing series that I’m normally a part of and it is one of the most beautiful races you’ll find on the island of Montreal. Even if you’re not a major long-distance runner, there are 5km and 10km distances available. If you only run a few races this year and you’re nearby, you really need to check this one out.
This is the first (of hopefully many) Weekly Running podcasts on the website. The podcast covers the racing scene around Montreal so if you’re interested in knowing about the races around the area, there’s plenty of info on this podcast as well as other information like shoe specials. Please send me your comments or suggests via the website or e-mail as I really want to make this a great podcast. Hopefully I’ll be able to arrange for some guests to come on soon and offer training advice to runners and other interesting stuff relevant to running.
